Just back at the hotel from the Bangla buzz, late, tired, still a beer floating in my head. Around 22:30 in Patong first a gogo bar down on Bangla, then a beer bar, and to finish a quick stop at a small massage parlor for a Thai massage (no full service, just relax). The atmosphere on Bangla is loud, glaring, and more expensive than Kata, but for nightlife it's unbeatable. Kata last year was quieter, more beach vibes, a few bars, no ping pong show better if you're after downtime instead of partying.

Question for the locals: I want to go hard in the evenings gogo bars, freelancer mix, lady drinks. Is it worth staying in Patong despite the tourist masses, or is it better to base myself in Kata and shuttle over by tuk-tuk/taxi? How are the bar fine / short time options from Kata (practical or a hassle)? Any tips on the Kata-to-Bangla route late at night?
