Quick question, folks: is Chiang Mai worth coming just for the nightlife or am I better off saving the trip for temples and coffee? I'm landing tonight, gonna start at Loi Kroh then maybe wander Night Bazaar and a couple small agogo spots, curious if the scene gives a decent girlfriend feel or if it's too sleepy compared to Bangkok or Pattaya.

Last time in Bangkok I did the gogo-bar crawl and paid pricey lady drinks and bar fines, back home that would cost 5x, so I'm hoping Chiang Mai is more relaxed and fair. Anyone got tips on whether to chase bar fine girls or look for freelancers and massage shops instead, and if Nimman or Old City is better to hit first?
