Walked the entire Bangla Road last night, from bars to massage shops, and everything felt almost double Bangkok prices. Hit a few massage shops that turned out mediocre, service was nothing special, the AC smell mixed with neon lights gave me a headache. Started by checking out some soapy and nuru massage places on Bangla, then wandered into a side alley bubblebath. Bar tabs were way higher than what I'm used to. Wallet was tight all night, mood went from excited to speechless.

Want to ask the veterans: why is Phuket like this? Tourist tax, high rent, or local shops just used to overcharging? Anyone got decent value recommendations in Patong (massage, soapy, bubblebath, anything really, just not a rip-off joint)? Or which streets to go to avoid the streetwalker and fishbowl chaos? I was going to do a long session but it felt too expensive so I just left. Looking for practical advice, thanks.
