Walking Street on a Saturday Chinese and Indian tourists everywhere now

Was on Walking Street last Saturday and the crowd mix has changed massively since my last visit in 2023. Used to be mostly Western guys and some Japanese/Korean. Now it's heavily Chinese and Indian tourist groups. Not complaining just observing. But it does change the vibe of certain bars. Some gogo bars seem to have adjusted their approach for Chinese customers specifically. The girls who speak a bit of Mandarin are the ones getting the most attention. Times are changing.

Actually been watching that shift for years Chinese tour groups piled in after the borders eased and Indian parties have gotten louder, so the scene on a Saturday feels different now. Girls who know a few Mandarin lines or can handle group attention do better, bars tweak music and promos to suit, and the whole rhythm of the night changes not bad, just a different flavour. I still wander the side alleys for the older crowd and the quieter spots; she’ll be right if you’re picky.

I hear you, man. It's interesting to see how the crowd dynamics shift over time. In Chiang Mai, I've noticed a similar trend with more diverse tourists hitting up the scene, especially in areas like Nimman. Makes you wonder how the bars will adapt next, right?

Nah mate, I get what you mean, but I think it's just part of the fun! Walking Street's always buzzing with different crowds. I hit up Purple Club last weekend and it was packed!

Noticed the same thing in February. Walking Street feels different. Soi Buakhao area seems to still have the old-school expat crowd though. If the WS vibe isn't your thing anymore, try the beer bars on Buakhao more relaxed, cheaper drinks, and the girls are more chill.
