Genuine question no politics intended. I'm in Pattaya and Phuket this month and the number of Russian tourists is massive. Signs in Russian everywhere, Russian menus at restaurants, even some bars seem to cater exclusively to Russian clientele. When did this happen? Last time I was here in 2022 it wasn't nearly this visible. Is this a post-sanctions thing where Russians moved their holiday spending to Thailand? Just curious about the dynamics.

Russian here. You're right it's mainly because European destinations became difficult after 2022. Thailand has visa-free entry for Russians, direct flights are available, and it's warm year-round. Phuket and Pattaya became the default holiday spots. The Russian community here has grown significantly some are tourists, some are long-term stays. It's not going away anytime soon.
