In Chiang Mai the nightclubs double as the city's main "hunting ground" — the realistic place to meet locals and freelancers without paying a bar. Zoe in Yellow (Old City) is the backpacker party and best for meeting people; Warm Up Cafe (Nimman) is a great club but couples-heavy and tough for solo hunting — for that, try Sound Up (Loi Kroh, open latest), Differ (Nimman), Tha Chang (Old City) or The Phoenix.
Entry is 0~300฿ (often free before 11pm); beer 150~250฿, cocktails 250~400฿, bottle service 2,500~5,000฿, VIP tables 5,000~15,000฿. Since the crowd is mostly locals and Thai visitors, play it cool — don't work the room too openly. Watch your drink: cannabis is legal here and spiking does happen.
Legal closing is midnight but it really runs to about 1am, with a few second-stage clubs (Sound Up) going to 5am. The 9 venues below are live-ranked by 7-day visitor traffic and recent reviews. Updated daily.
